Matt Daniel Joins KBR Building Group as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Texas Operations

Matt Daniel, LEED AP, has joined KBR Building Group as Senior Vice President and General Manager for Texas Operations. KBR Building Group, the exclusive commercial construction arm of Houston-based KBR (NYSE: KBR), specializes in institutional, manufacturing and mixed-use market sectors in Texas, and other parts of the Southwest, Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.  Nationally, KBR consistently ranks high among U.S.-based construction firms, appearing on Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) lists of Top 100 Construction Management Firms and Top 100 Design-Builders.

Daniel comes to KBR Building Group with over 30 years of well-rounded experience in the commercial construction industry, having held increasingly responsible positions ranging from estimating and field operations to business development to senior management. Operating from KBR’s downtown tower, Daniel will focus on expanding and managing KBR Building Group’s commercial construction business in Texas.

Most recently, KBR Building Group constructed a $23.9 million, design-build advanced manufacturing facility for Dallas-based Triumph Aerostructures’ Vought Division in Red Oak. Recent institutional assignments include major construction projects at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center in Cedar Park, and Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos. High-profile construction projects in the Houston area managed by KBR over the years include Minute Maid Park, home of the MLB Houston Astros; multiple projects at Rice University, including Martel Jones Brown College and Weiss College; and several aviation projects at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport, as well as Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Other Texas clients include the City of Houston; Houston METRO; Houston Community College; Houston Independent School District; City of Austin; City of San Antonio; Pasadena ISD; and Harris County.

Daniel is a graduate of Texas A&M University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction. He is a LEED AP and was an early pioneer with sustainable and green construction in Texas.  Daniel is active in the community and serves on several Boards, including the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Greater Houston, the Sam Houston Area Council of Boy Scouts, and the Institute for Leadership in Capital Projects (I-LinCP).  He is also an adjunct professor at Texas A&M University, Prairie View A&M University and the University of Houston.
