Research Triangle Park Employees Deliver Christmas Cheer to Boys and Girls Club of Durham, NC
December 21, 2012

KBR Building Group employees from the Research Triangle Park office recently delivered Christmas cheer to the children of the John Avery Boys and Girls Club of Durham, North Carolina. Due to a recent fire in September, all of the Club’s Christmas decorations had been destroyed.  With numerous donations in hand, including a beautiful 9-foot Fraser Fir, our team set out to provide a festive afternoon for over 80 children.

As seasonal tunes filled the air, children crafted hand-made ornaments and decorations for their new tree. Some chose to take their works of art home. Ornaments included hand-painted stars and stockings, paper angels, woven hearts and red-nosed reindeer. Other activities included decorating sugar cookies and enjoying hot cocoa.
The John Avery Boys and Girls Club is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and protecting children, while preserving the beauty and innocence of childhood. They serve over 780 children through after-school and summer camps. John Avery aims to make a fundamental difference in the lives of all youth, but especially in the lives of those in need of guidance by providing a safe alternative for youth between the ages 6 and 18.
