KBR Building Group/The Daniele Company Celebrate Ribbon-Cutting of Honda Aircraft Company’s New Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Customer Service Facility

Greensboro, NC — Honda Aircraft Company marked the opening of its new Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at the Piedmont Triad International Airport with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 17. KBR Building Group and its partner, minority-owned firm, The Daniele Company, provided general contracting services for the 90,000-square-foot customer service center built to support HondaJet, Honda’s advanced light business jet aircraft. The architect of record is Barge, Waggoner, Sumner & Cannon.

Honda Aircraft President and CEO Michimasa Fujino was a featured speaker, while Tony Piazza of California-based American Honda Motor Company, presided over the event. Attendees included Honda employees as well as local officials, including the Mayor of Greensboro. KBR Building Group was represented by Brandon Fair, project manager; Greg Blinston, Honda account executive; Ron Sebastian, superintendent; Garland Burton, director of community affairs and diversity; Tim Parker, vice president, business development; and Mac Carpenter, executive vice president. Attendees from The Daniele Company included Gloria Shealy, president; Carter Whitley, project engineer; Anthony Nelson, safety manager; and Jeremy Nodine, assistant superintendent.

Honda’s new Customer Service facility includes dedicated office and work space for Honda Aircraft Company’s customer service organization, a service parts warehouse for parts distribution, and a hangar to provide aircraft maintenance. The facility will provide a corporate base for Honda Aircraft Company’s customer service organization, which will manage warranty administration; service programs sales and administration; 24/7 technical support center; technical publications; training; and will complement the HondaJet dealer network by providing heavy maintenance and major repair and overhaul work. The building houses back shops for composite and sheet metal structures, avionics and interiors, customer waiting area with large pilot’s lounge, individual work rooms and with conference space and a flight planning room near the aircraft ramp side entrance.

The new facility is an expansion of Honda Aircraft Company’s world headquarters that includes a production facility and a R&D facility. The award-winning 260,000-square-foot HondaJet production facility, completed by KBR Building Group two years ago, was a 2011 ABC Eagle Award winner and a Finalist for Project of the Year in the Excellence in Construction (EIC) competition sponsored by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of the Carolinas. With the addition of the new facility, Honda’s facilities at the Piedmont Triad International Airport now exceed a total area of more than 600,000 square feet. In total, Honda employs more than 850 people at this site.
