KBR Building Group Goes to the Freezer to Help Feed Houstonians
June 2, 2014

KBR Building Group’s Houston office recently supported the Houston Food Bank with a day of service. The largest such facility in the nation, the Houston Food Bank relies on volunteers to perform the work it takes to help the 137,000 people it feeds each week. The 73 million pounds of food that the organization receives each year must be sorted and packaged before it can be distributed to hungry families.

Eight KBR Building Group employees suited up in coats and gloves to volunteer in the Houston Food Bank’s freezer facility, where thousands of pounds of cold and frozen food are sorted for daily distribution. Within a few hours, they helped send nearly 1,000 meals off to Houston’s hungry.

“KBR Building Group is always searching for impactful ways we can serve our community,” said Matt Daniel, Senior Vice President and General Manager for KBR Building Group’s Texas Operations. “The work that the Houston Food Bank does is astounding, and they are always in need of volunteers. It was great spending the day together as team, knowing our efforts helped provide over 958 meals for our neighbors in need.”
