July 23, 2014

KBR Building Group participated in the National Association of Minority Contractors’ (NAMC) 45th Annual Conference last month in National Harbor, Maryland. Attendees included national construction and design firms, consultants, elected officials, and client representatives from a range of government, university, energy, transportation, and healthcare organizations. Garland Burton, KBR Building Group’s Director of Community Affairs and Diversity represented our company at the event.

The 2014 Annual Conference celebrated and saluted the many accomplishments of NAMC with a renewed focus on advancing the mission of "Access, Advocacy and Contractor Development in Collaboration with Strategic Alliances." This year’s conference theme, "A Legacy Celebration - New Roads to Excellence," paid tribute to organization’s past and showcased the new direction of its present, while looking forward to sustaining and expanding contributions made to the general economy by member businesses. The agenda included a number of workshops designed to broaden the scale, scope and footprint of the diverse construction firms and professionals in attendance.

A featured sponsor, KBR Building Group served as general host, workshop ambassador, and hospitality coordinator during this year’s event. “Participation by major client representatives and the ability to network with federal agency officials, developers, and industry competitors made this year’s conference exceptionally beneficial” said Burton. "Attendance at each session was excellent, with positive feedback from participants and conference organizers alike."

Keynote speakers included U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Anthony Foxx; Jim Murren, Chairman & CEO, MGM Resorts International; and Roland Martin, CNN commentator, TV One Host, and News One Now correspondent, who was also named an honorary Hall of Fame Member at the Gala.
