BE&K Building Group Participates in National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) 2015 Conference
August 12, 2015

BE&K Building Group participated in the National Association of Minority Contractors’ (NAMC) 46th Annual Conference earlier this summer in Las Vegas. Attendees included national construction and design firms, consultants, elected officials, and client representatives from a range of government, university, energy, transportation and healthcare organizations. BE&K Building Group's James H. Foulke III, assistant project manager, represented our company at the event. Based in our RTP office, James is currently assigned to two projects underway in Greensboro, North Carolina — an expansion of Honda Aircraft Company’s main headquarters building and the addition of a hangar to support aircraft production and delivery.

This year's NAMC conference theme, "Empowered to Succeed in a New Economy," focused on building long-term relationships with corporate decision-makers and showcased future trends expected to occur in the construction industry. The agenda for the three-day event included a number of workshops designed to broaden the technical, legal and organizational aptitude of the diverse construction firms and professionals in attendance.

BE&K Building Group — a longtime supporter — views NAMC as a great organization to collaborate with to achieve diversity goals through partnering opportunities around the country for our various corporate clients. For NAMC 2015, BE&K Building Group served as a general host and workshop ambassador. “Participation by major client representatives and the ability to network with federal agency officials, developers and industry competitors made this year’s conference exceptionally beneficial,” said Foulke. "Attendance at each session was excellent, with positive feedback from participants and conference organizers alike. I anticipate future opportunities for BE&K Building Group through some of the connections that were made."

Keynote speakers included The Honorable Lawrence Weekly, Commissioner of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority; Rose McKinney-James, Managing Principal, McKinney-James Associates; and Nevada State Senator Aaron Ford. Gloria Shealey, NAMC National President, was named an honorary Hall of Fame Member at the Gala. Ms. Shealey is also President of the Durham (NC) based construction firm The Daniele Company — a current and past partner of BE&K Building Group on Honda Aircraft projects.

NAMC 2016 is scheduled for next June in Atlanta, Georgia.
