BE&K Building Group Begins Construction on Florence County Judicial Center in Florence, South Carolina
May 10, 2016

BE&K Building Group is constructing a new state-of-the-art, 120,000 square-foot judicial center for Florence County, South Carolina. State and local officials gathered for a formal groundbreaking ceremony on April 22, 2016.

The $32 million facility will include three circuit courtrooms, three family courtrooms, probate court hearing room, jury rooms and judges’ chambers, as well as offices for the Clerk of Courts, County Solicitor and support functions. Site plans include parking, public green space and a three-story rotunda. A December 2017 opening is anticipated.

The new building is being constructed across from the existing Florence County Complex, which houses the current courthouse. The  County determined a new judicial center was needed following an in-depth study of
its court facilities three years ago — citing space constraints, the discovery of asbestos and other safety concerns.
