BE&K Building Group Begins Construction on Honda Aero’s Phase 2 Expansion in Burlington, North Carolina
July 14, 2016

BE&K Building Group has begun construction on a 50,000 square-foot expansion to Honda Aero, Inc.’s (HAI) jet engine manufacturing plant in Burlington, North Carolina. Located adjacent to the Burlington-Alamance Regional Airport, Honda Aero uses the existing 82,000-square-foot facility to manufacture engines for the HondaJet, a lightweight business jet produced by Honda Aircraft Company in nearby Greensboro. Honda Aero also performs overhaul and maintenance services at its Burlington campus. With the expansion, Honda Aero will  begin manufacturing and assembling  components that assist with air flow in its jet engines. A formal groundbreaking ceremony was held on April 19, 2016. The project is scheduled for completion by early 2017 and is expected to create 20-30 additional jobs over the next few years.

BE&K Building Group and Honda — This marks BE&K Building Group’s fifth major contract with the Honda organization over the past eight years. In the fall of 2015, we completed two concurrent projects at Honda Aircraft Company’s world headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina — a 49,968-square-foot expansion of their main headquarters building and the addition of a 24,405-square-foot hangar to support HondaJet production and delivery. In 2013, BE&K Building Group delivered an award-winning, 90,000-square-foot Customer Service Facility at the same site; and, in 2011, BE&K Building Group completed construction of the original 260,000-square-foot HondaJet production facility, also an award-winner.
