BE&K Building Group Participates in National Association of Minority Contractors Conference
January 18, 2017

BE&K Building Group participated in the National Association of Minority Contractors’ (NAMC) 47th Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The attendees included national construction and design firms, consultants, elected officials, and client representatives from a range of government, university, energy, transportation, aerospace and healthcare organizations. BE&K Building Group's James H. Foulke III, assistant project manager, represented BE&K Building Group at the conference. Based in our Research Triangle Park office, James is currently assigned to Honda Aero’s Phase II Expansion in Burlington, North Carolina.

This year's NAMC conference theme, "Building Bridges that Empower Our Youth and Community," focused on long-term investment strategies aimed at growth, workforce development, and market share expansion for minority contracting firms. The agenda for the three-day event included a number of workshops designed to broaden the technical, legal, organizational, safety, and procurement aptitude of the construction and design professionals  in attendance.

Keynote speakers at the conference included Atlanta Mayor, Kasim Reed; President and CEO of Invest Atlanta, Dr. Eloisa Klementich; current NAMC National President, Mr. Wendell Stemley; along with a host of corporate, government, and institutional client representatives.

BE&K Building Group remains a long-term supporter of NAMC in recognition not only of our client-customers and subcontractor-partners who are members, but for the wealth of national exposure, networking and collaborative opportunities made available. “Federal, state and local agencies, universities, and many large corporations showed continued interest this year making attendance at the conference exceptionally beneficial,” explained Foulke. "Attendance at each session and conference participation overall grew from last year’s event.”

The 48th Annual NAMC Conference in 2017 is scheduled to be held in Columbia, South Carolina this summer. “Our national headquarters in Greenville, SC and our strong presence across the Carolinas will make the 2017 Conference a stand-out event for BE&K Building Group,” said Garland Burton, BE&K Building Group’s Diversity Director. “I’ve already had a few calls from client representatives and others in South Carolina regarding the conference. It’s shaping up to be a unique opportunity to build and strengthen relationships with new and existing clients.”
