July 5, 2017

On Monday, May 22, HAECO Americas sponsored the Third Annual 2017 Purple Heart Homes Charity Golf Tournament Fundraiser. Held at the Greensboro Country Club Farm Course in Greensboro, North Carolina, senior project manager Steve McGrey and project executive Greg Blinston were in attendance.

Purple Heart Homes is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides housing solutions for service-connected disabled veterans. Founded by veterans for veterans, Purple Heart Homes is dedicated to providing housing that is functional, tastefully designed, and quality constructed to welcome home the fighting men and women of America. The tournament, raffle events, and other donations raised over $80,000 which topped 2016 donations by $20,000. Proceeds will be used for improvements to two local transitional homes for homeless, disabled veterans in the Piedmont. These transitional facilities work with veterans to find and sustain permanent housing through career assistance, medical care, and rehabilitation.

“As a veteran, I am proud that BE&K Building Group was able to participate as a Freedom Sponsor for a cause that is close to home,” said Steve McGrey who is currently working at the HAECO Americas Two-Bay Widebody Aircraft Maintenance Hangar. Steve spent over 11 years serving in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps where he served tours in Jacksonville, Florida; the Philippines; Panama; Gulfport, Mississippi; and was deployed in Guam, Spain, Tunisia, and Greece.
