The Building Group’s project team for the all-new nine-story replacement facility for Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Georgia (near Atlanta) proudly celebrated a safety milestone in today — 502,019 man-hours with zero lost-time accidents. Currently there are more than 500 tradeworkers on site representing 23 subcontractors.

The Building Group’s Jorge Otalora, HSE manager, praised his colleagues saying, “Accident-free environments are achievable, our results prove it. Thanks to every one of you for making this happen and for providing an injury-free site to our workers.”

Andy Johnson, Safety Director for the Building Group, echoed Otalora’s sentiments. In a brief memo to the project team leadership, Johnson wrote, “Outstanding! Congratulations to the Piedmont Newnan team for accomplishing this significant milestone,” said Johnson. “Because of your commitment to be Incident and Injury Free, people are able to leave the project at the end of each shift without incurring an injury. Thanks for your dedication to eliminating workplace injuries. Please share with the entire workforce that we are proud of this accomplishment and we look forward to celebrating future milestones with you.”

The Building Group’s Nashville and Atlanta offices are responsible for this significant healthcare construction project, which represents the first phase of a long-term building program planned for this campus. When complete in 2012, the new Piedmont Newnan Hospital is expected to be the tallest building in the southwest metropolitan Atlanta area.
