BE&K Building Group is excited to announce that one of our recent projects, the Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen, won ENR Texas and Louisiana’s 2019 Best Project in the Higher Education / Research Category! ENR’s judges poured over 132 project entries selecting just 17 Best Projects.
BE&K partnered with PBK Architects on this $32.5 million Design-Build project. The 65,000-square-foot facility is used by the school’s Colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences; Engineering; Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences; Science; and Liberal Arts. It houses mid-size and small general classrooms, lab spaces for engineering and technology classes, as well as administrative office space. It is the first building for the university’s new campus in McAllen, Texas.
Texas A&M University joined in a partnership with the City of McAllen and Hidalgo County to bring enhanced educational opportunities to the rapidly growing region. The McAllen Campus is an extension of Texas A&M’s flagship College Station campus and is held to the same standards.
Congratulations to our Texas A&M McAllen project team! We couldn’t have achieved this recognition without their hard work and dedication.
This is an investment that will benefit the entirety of the state of Texas. This is an investment in the leaders of tomorrow.
