Drug Enforcement Administration

Regional Laboratory

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) uses this Regional Laboratory to complete the evaluation of contraband drugs, as well as for other investigative research involving crime. The single-story structure incorporates certain blast-proof and bullet-proof construction. Laboratory space includes 51 fume hoods for the conducting of tests and experiments for drugs and other paraphernalia confiscated by the DEA. The building is designed with staff offices, laboratories, and support areas grouped around a central landscaped courtyard. Divided into five separation zones for the testing and analyzing of chemicals, the building has an integrated system of security and controls to limit the consequences of internal events while maintaining building security.

The BE&K Building Group team delivered a high-class facility, on-time and on-budget. From preconstruction to project completion, BE&K was responsive, dedicated and cooperative on this highly sensitive facility for our Federal Government. This was the second DEA Laboratory that we have developed. I am very pleased that I switched contractors to BE&K Building Group where the organization and problem-solving was much improved and the final product is truly something to be proud of.
