One of the world’s foremost processors of fresh beef, pork, and fully-prepared retained BE&K Building Group to build this facility for cutting, packaging, labeling, storing, and distributing case-ready meat products. The 67,000 sf processing area, refrigerated to 38ºF, is enclosed with insulated metal panels creating a thermal envelope complete with a “walkable ceiling” providing additional space for utilities, conduit, pipe, and machinery. The raw materials cooler and finished products warehouse are maintained at 31ºF, and the shipping and receiving docks are cooled to 35ºF. The facility’s first floor includes a cafeteria, offices, training rooms, locker rooms, and an area for building services. The majority of the facility’s 20,000 sf mezzanine is dedicated to office space and conference rooms, many providing windows that overlook the processing area.
