Building Y represented BE&K Building Group’s second major construction project at Gulfstream’s manufacturing complex next to the Savannah / Hilton Head International Airport. The facility incorporates two, three-story office towers, with a 330,000 sf production floor area, eight overhead cranes, a connected central energy plant, and a separate industrial waste processing facility. A 110,000 sf high-bay expansion was later provided to the manufacturing facility. LEED Silver construction guidelines for this addition aligned with Building Y’s certification.
Building Y stands out as one of the most complicated, challenging, and intense construction undertakings with which I have been associated. BE&K Building Group continues to distinguish itself as a strong construction manager with a hard to find understanding of aviation construction requirements, and has surpassed their prior performance here at Gulfstream Building X. For Both Orr Partners and Gulfstream Aerospace, the construction of Building Y has been a huge success.
