Pope Air Force Base

Corrosion Control Facility + Hangar

This corrosion control facility and two-bay hangar provides for the exterior maintenance of C-130 Aircraft, consolidating work functions previously performed in several aging facilities on the base. Located on an active runway, this fast-track project required working around existing operations and the implementation of special security measures. The efficiency of the design-build project delivery method trimmed 6 months off the government’s original project schedule. The facility has two separate high bays, each capable of accommodating a C-130 aircraft. An attached structure houses a structural maintenance metal shop, hydraulic tubing shop with bridge cranes, small parts sandblasting and painting booths, parts and tools storage, administrative offices, and supporting utility systems.
