BE&K Building Group was selected as the design-builder to renovate an existing 300,000-square-foot facility for Simtra BioPharma Solutions (Simtra) near its existing manufacturing facility in Bloomington, IN. The scope of work features one new 400 vpm liquid vial filling line with three lyophilizers, cappers under isolators, and a vial washer for both liquid and lyo product paths. The facility support areas will consist of freeze/thaw, sampling and dispensing, cold storage, semi-automated (lyo) and automated (liquid) visual inspection, and process clean utilities. A quality control and microbiology lab will also be integrated into the facility with administration and amenity support areas. The initial line installation is slated for completion in 2027.
