Syngenta

North America Crop Protection Headquarters

BE&K Building Group (BE&K) served as construction manager for Syngenta’s recent corporate headquarters additions and renovations in Greensboro, North Carolina. This nearly 200,000-square-foot project was comprised of three interconnected buildings strategically designed to support Syngenta’s operations and future growth. BE&K completed the project in three overlapping phases to ensure smooth progress and minimal disruption to existing operations.

The new 87,000-square-foot, three-story Office building offers functional and communal spaces. The first floor features an auditorium, wellness center, cafeteria with catering services, dining areas, coffee stations, a security office, lobby, and support rooms. The second and third floors provide space for private offices, open workstations, conference rooms, and collaborative meeting areas. Constructed with a structural steel frame, the building’s exterior combines masonry, metal panels, phenolic panels, and glass curtain walls. The south side opens to landscaped hardscapes and a patio, creating an inviting outdoor environment.

The new Product Metabolism and Analytic Sciences (PMAS)/Connector building serves as a key link between Syngenta’s existing lab and the new office space. It includes two distinct components: a two-story, 26,500-square-foot lab facility with office space for lab personnel on the second floor and an 8,300-square-foot, two-story amenities connector. The first floor of the connector houses additional lab offices, restrooms, and a customer experience room, while the second floor features a coffee bar and rooftop lounge, providing space for relaxation and collaboration.

The renovation of Building L, which spans 103,000 square feet, included a complete interior overhaul. The first, second, and basement floors were largely demolished, with a new fitness room added. Some areas were transformed into additional meeting rooms and storage, and one stairwell was eliminated to create more lab space. The east façade was demolished to connect the building to the new Amenities Connector and Lab Addition.

This project reflected Syngenta’s commitment to innovation and demonstrated BE&K’s expertise in delivering complex construction solutions. From modern office environments to advanced laboratories, every detail was carefully crafted to enhance functionality and collaboration.

Syngenta has been part of the fabric in the Greensboro community for decades, and it’s time for a major upgrade to our facilities. The new office and lab workspaces planned for our campus will enable our Greensboro colleagues to work together in modern, efficient facilities, enabling better collaboration and focus to meet our customers’ needs, while continuing to attract new talent to the Greensboro area.
