On Thursday and Friday, October 21st and 22nd, BE&K Building Group (BE&K) convened its annual Project Management Conference. The day-and-a-half event was hosted at the Residence Inn + Springhill Suites in Downtown Greenville, South Carolina, a new hotel recently completed by BE&K and directly adjacent to BE&K’s corporate headquarters. Our project management team members from around the company gathered to receive training, were informed of upcoming company initiatives, and most importantly, socialized and built relationships with one another — strengthening existing relationships and building new ones. David Griffin, President of D.H. Griffin Companies, delivered the conference’s keynote address. As the nation just recently remembered the 20th anniversary of 9/11, David shared his personal testimony of his experience journeying to New York City on the heels of 9/11 to offer any assistance he could provide in the rescue, recovery, and clean-up effort. His message offered a sobering reminder of the events of those days and an encouragement that we can all make a difference in our world when we are simply willing to “Show Up.” Training and other topics addressed during the conference included Safety, Lean Construction, Earned Value Management, Contract Terms + Conditions, Advanced Technologies, Cost Forecasting, and more. One of the highlights of the team’s time together included the Thursday evening social outing to TopGolf®. The conference was a great success with the company already planning a similar event in the Spring of 2022 for its superintendents and field personnel.
