On Monday, June 17, 2024, Boom Supersonic celebrated the completion of the Overture Superfactory with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The ceremony began with opening remarks from Boom Founder + CEO Blake Scholl, followed by additional remarks from North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, North Carolina Secretary of Commerce Machelle Baker Sanders, North Carolina Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger, United States Congresswoman Kathy Manning (North Carolina District 6), BE&K Building Group CEO Frank Holley, and Piedmont Triad Airport Authority Chairman Paul Mengert.
Boom selected BE&K as the Design-Builder for their first manufacturing facility. BE&K partnered with BRPH for design services on the 62-acre greenfield site located at the Piedmont Triad International (PTI) Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina. The new 180,000 sf facility consists of a four-station final assembly line, an apron with access to PTI’s nearby taxiway, and a parking area.
This new manufacturing facility, with cutting-edge technology, marks a significant advancement in the aviation and aerospace industry. Designed to streamline the aircraft production process and foster innovation, it stands as a testament to excellence and future-forward thinking. Boom’s technology promises to revolutionize air travel, cutting travel times in half and making global connectivity more accessible. This facility will soon produce faster aircraft and set new standards in environmental responsibility and efficiency.
