BE&K Building Group and Alcami celebrated a major project milestone with a topping out ceremony in early September for the expansion of Alcami’s manufacturing facility in Charleston, South Carolina. Due to COVID-19 procedures, no formal celebration was held, but that did not stop our team from continuing the Topping Out tradition.
Alcami’s existing facility provides approximately 46,000 sf for manufacturing and office space. The current expansion will provide approximately 6,500 sf of additional manufacturing space that will include ISO 7 compounding areas, cold storage, clean storage, and warehouse space. New compounding equipment will be installed that will feed product to a filler located in the existing facility. The scope of work for the new addition also includes the relocation of HVAC units, an existing process chiller, an emergency generator, and associated utilities. Substantial completion is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.
