BE&K Building Group Attends Clemson's Third Annual Construction Symposium

BE&K Building Group was a proud sponsor of the third annual Clemson Construction Symposium hosted by Clemson University’s Department of Construction Science and Management. The event was held on October 11 at the Marriott in Greenville, South Carolina.

This years’ focus was “The Ever-Changing World of Construction: Today’s Challenges – Tomorrow’s Opportunities.” Those in attendance from BE&K Building Group were Mac Carpenter, President, and Tim Parker, Senior Vice President and Greenville Business Unit Leader.

The symposium was created to bring together a cross-culture of disciplines, including facility owners, construction managers, architects, designers, specialty contractors, and vendors, to discuss challenges facing the construction industry and share insight regarding the trends for tomorrow.

The entire day was interactive, with healthy discussion between the audience, speakers, and panelists. “The audience asked lots of great questions and I feel confident that everyone took something away from the information-packed day. Our one-day, interactive format has been very well received over the years and sets us apart from other industry conferences and seminars,” said Mike Jackson, Ph.D., P.E., chair and professor, Clemson’s Department of Construction Science and Management.

In his keynote address, titled “The Economic Situation: The Nation, Region, and the Construction Industry,” Dr. Bruce Yandle, Dean Emeritus, Clemson University College of Business & Behavioral Science, spoke about the impact of the economy on our industry. His address was considered a highlight of the day by many attendees.
