Frontier Scientific Solutions' 200,000-Hour Safety Celebration
On Wednesday, October 8, BE&K Building Group and Frontier Scientific Solutions celebrated an impressive milestone: 200,000 work hours without a recordable incident. The luncheon event recognized the dedication and commitment of every worker on-site who helped create and maintain a safe and successful jobsite.
The celebration began with remarks from Shane Maxton, BE&K Assistant Safety Manager. He reminded the team that safety is much more than statistics. “It is a reflection of the commitment, discipline, and teamwork each of you brings to this job every single day,” he said, thanking both the craft professionals and leadership for setting the tone. “Safety does not happen by chance. It happens because people care about their work, their coworkers, and their families.”
Leandro Moreira of Frontier Scientific Solutions followed with words of gratitude and appreciation. He applauded the team for setting high standards that make achievements like this possible. “What we are building together will help connect life-saving therapies to patients around the world,” he said. “It is a noble mission that starts right here. The quality, organization, and discipline shown on this construction site are exceptional, and the fact that everyone goes home safely each day is something we deeply value.”
Matt Smith, BE&K Director of Operations, reflected on the team’s commitment to safety, noting how impressed he has been since joining the company earlier this year. He shared that in more than 30 years of managing projects around the world, he has rarely seen a jobsite place such a strong emphasis on safety. He credited the milestone to the dedication of every individual onsite, saying the team’s daily commitment is what makes this level of excellence possible.
BE&K provided t-shirts to all trade workers and Jersey Mike’s box lunches to mark the occasion. BE&K is the design-builder for Frontier’s 519,000-square-foot cGMP cold storage facility located adjacent to Wilmington International Airport (ILM). Designed to support the growing Life Sciences sector, the facility will feature state of the art temperature-controlled storage, office and support spaces. The project also includes extensive site work to improve logistics, with new roadways, parking areas, and direct connectivity to ILM’s taxiway. Once complete, the facility will help meet the increasing demand for secure and efficient GMP temperature-controlled storage and distribution of life-saving therapies around the globe.
