BE&K Building Group and Texas A&M University-Commerce Celebrate Topping Out of New Nursing and Health Sciences Building

On Thursday April 12, 2018, BE&K Building Group and Texas A&M University-Commerce celebrated a significant project milestone with the ceremonial topping out of the new Nursing and Health Sciences Building. Representing Texas A&M University-Commerce was President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ray M. Keck III and Vice President for Media Relations & Community Engagement Noah Nelson, along with other key departmental leaders. Also in attendance was Texas State House Representative Dan Flynn (District 2). BE&K Building Group was represented by executive leadership and the entire onsite project team.

The new $42 million, 112,000-square-foot, three-story facility will house the departments of Nursing, Health, and Human Performance, and the new Biomedical Institute for Regenerative Research. The building will include training labs and facilities, specialized equipment, and a simulation hospital in which faculty members and students will conduct advanced medical research.

“Excitement was definitely in the air as we celebrated this significant milestone for Texas A&M University-Commerce and BE&K Building Group,” said Steve Olson, Chief Operating Officer for BE&K Building Group. “Over 1,000 signatures were scribed on the final beam prior to hoisting it into place; a testament to the passion driving the build-out of this new facility and the contributions it will offer toward the advancement of healthcare training and research in this community, our state, and beyond.”

Construction is scheduled for completion in December 2018. SmithGroupJJR is the Architect of Record.
